Although my reply is a bit late,
I will say that for DSL, there really shouldn't be any external software required. Just set up PPPoE (if you're connecting directly to the modem) or if you're connecting through a router, there should be no configuration necessary.
Make sure that XP's firewall is enabled, and take your other usual security precautions.

Possibly bad DSL filters
Quite possibly a bad DSL filter. Try replacing it. I can sell you verified working ones, if you're interested, just reply.

very poor service
I have been receiving auto call backs from your dsl support area, the problem is your system hangs up claiming the call can not be placed after making me hang in space for several minutes.
Your tech was here a few days ago installing all your services, he did not verify that all the wireless PC were working, thus only my lap top on a hard wire works.
Then on the tv he left parental blocks. Have you ever tried to follow the instructions in that TV booklet. The TV system installed does not match the booklet.
After 1 week with TELUS I am ready to extremely irritated. I was assured there would be no problems when I purchased the wireless DSL and TV services.
TELUS - NONEXISTENT customer SERVICE
I am a computer consultant and I work on a lot of computers. Recently Telus B.C. informs of ONE HOUR and 27 MINUTE wait for a callback and a ONE HOUR and 21 MINUTE wait for online chat support. I have attempted to contact customer support on behalf on many of my clients and because they are paying for my time, they cannot afford to wait that long. In addition, that sort of a wait ...... which IS the AVERAGE WAIT .... or even longer ..... that sort of wait is INSULTING to those who pay for this service. I instruct ALL of my clients now that TELUS treats it's customers BADLY and should be unequivocally avoided. I assist my clients to switch. If you want to be treated like a valued customer ..... TELUS is NOT the outfit you want to deal with .... EVER.
DSL Problems
I have intermittent disconnects with our DSL Link. For example, this past weekend it was out of service for 75% of the time. It seems that for no reason the system comes back up and runs. Then for no reason it disconnects and will not re-connect until ?????????
When it is connected there are no issues. It seems that whenever it rains, or the temperature drops during the night the system fails in the morning, stays off all day, and then comes back in the evening. I wonder of the problem is a connection on the TELUS line feeding our home?

I have been trying to reach tech support by telephone. When I reach the telus tech line, I get a recorded message saying that a tech will be with me soon and that calls may br recorded for quality. After hanging in space for ten minutes, I recieve a message saying that, "My call cannot go through as dialed. I tried several times in case I had hit a wrong key. I ALWAYS get Telus then am put on hold only to be told that the call cannot go through!

FRUSTRATED
Just moved to Kamloops, all was working well in Williams Lake, only been here for a week and I'm offline more than I'm on, continuously having to unplug the power source from the ADSL modem in order to get back on line however, this doesn't always work either, need this resolved quickly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DSL Problems
My DSL has been disconnected more than connected in the past month. I did however get a notice in the mail that Telus has been improving things in my area. If I phone them I can upgrade to faster internet. Hmmm... would be nice to just have internet that works. Good job Telus - I'm planning to cancel soon!

I have followed the instrutions given to connect with Telus DSL and yet i am still not connected. Ill be invoiced soon and yet i have not yet the opportunity of using the net. i do get a dial tone from my telephone outlet and i plugged in the cables as directed. What the heck is the problem
task scheduler
I cannot set my scheduler for disk clean up or defrag it keep asking for a password. I have never put in one and it keeps saying its wrong. I talked with a computer tech and he says it is an admin password . This computer was bought from you 4 yrs ago . Was there one put in by you and I don't know it . I have tried to change it but it will not allow it.

Do I need a new DSL modem and how do I get one?

I've noticed for the past month or so that I keep losing my internet connection with my laptop which is wireless and with my desk top that I can't seem to have any connection.
I've noticed that my ethernet cable seems touchy, I've tried unplugging and replugging, and I've been thinking of changing either my ethernet usb, since that could be going or is it the modem that I originally got from Telus when I went DSL.
Just wondering what the problem is??
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

ADSL NOT WORKING
I am going nuts with my adsl line, I am constantly unplugging the power cord and re-booting to get internet access. The last time I did this the adsl box went dead no lights nothing!!! Now I cannot get an internet connection at all. Not getting any answer from the technical support line. After going through the automated questions period, the phone just keep ringing and ringing until finally it has a busy signal and I hang up.
This is nuts!!!

Any help so far from your employees is very TEMPORARY. I am swamped with GARBAGE EMAILS
and even when I report them as SPAM they keep coming. What kind of SPAM CONTROL is that?

Get a Gmail account or the like, don't use Telus'. Even with Telus, you're stuck paying them money if you want to ever leave them as your internet provider.

YELLING at the internet is not going to fix your problem.
It's VERY simple. Call an appropriate support line and open a ticket to have your problem attended to.
Sitting at home or online frustrated because you did nothing useful to resolve the problem is simply hopeless.
Use your common sense and have a little patience while people try to assist your dumbass.

I'm having a problem with my iphone wifi. Everytime i go on settings it says my wifi is connected but then whenever i go on to another app it says my internet connection is offline! What should i do? I tried resetting networks and all settings and rebooting it but nothing has happened. what should i do?
