Bank of Nova Scotia Phone Numbers

The Bank of Nova Scotia, or sorry, ScotiaBank makes it pretty difficult to find their actual phone number on their web-site. They even make you go through a pop-up. Seems a bit un-necessary. Why don't they just put it on their very first page that you go on? Or how about EVERY PAGE? Time to investigate other banking options methinks... Use the direct numbers below their main number for quicker help.

I want to talk about the Gic refund . But I want to talk to some representative regarding that , I am from India and what are the numbers and what are the preferred timing for calling

Bank Officer

Ive been with Scotia bank over 20 years and every year I ask myself why. I had a meeting with a bank mgr last week to discuss getting advice on how to manage my accounts and lack of money as I am out of work at the moment. WEll, it took a week to get the appointment first then he made me sit for 40 minutes waiting and yawned all through the meeting. Kept saying Im a B or C [ not a person ! ] and there was nothing Scotia could do . They only help people with big fat mortgages and large accounts. No problem taking my service fees every month though !
Im going to look into switching to a Credit Union bank like Vancity or North Shore Credit. Had with Banks

CSL

I have to compliment the excellent efforts of Giselle Lahaie at the Scotiabank, Canada Student Loan Center in Toronto..Our deaf son had some real difficulty getting assistance in the administration of his CSL.She came to our aid on several occasions..Then more than 10 years after graduation Ottawa would not forgive the remaining balance in accordance with their guidelines for those with permanent disabilities.. We were totally frustrated after a couple of years of pursuing this matter....

It was only after the insistence of Giselle that I said I would again pursue the forgiveness route once again .....This time around Ottawa ruled in our son's favor and agreed to forgive the remaining CSL only to change their minds again a month before the CSL was to be forgiven.. Totally dismayed,we did not know which way to turn and I finally called Giselle ...She went above and beyond normal customer service and intervened on our son's behalf all the way to Ottawa..

Thanks to Giselle Ottawa revisited their decision and the CSL is to be forgiven.....We can never thank her enough..

Scotiabank Student Loan Centre is Unprofessional and Uncaring

Scotiabank student loan centre is totally useless. They "modernized" their student loan system by creating new account numbers for the loans and transferring existing loans to the new account. However, they didn't bother to communicate the changes to their clients until after the fact (I received a letter about the change 9 days after they made the change; I received a statement showing the previous balance with the payment just made but the payment wasn't credited to the new account!!!).

Then, I called the student loan centre and was put on ignore for 15 minutes. I called at 740 pm. The call centre closes at 8:00 pm. Finally spoke to a rep who said she would look into my account and, no surprise, she disconnected me.

I called back and was put on ignore again. Then, like magic, at 8:00 pm a recording came on saying the bank was experiencing technical difficulties and I should call back again during the hours they were open and that my call would be disconnected.

Yeah, right. Call me cynical but those dicks don't care about students, that's for sure. If they did, they would offer the same kind of service they offer their other clients.

How to make Scotiabank fullfill it's responsibilities?

We have transferred funds from PayPal account to the account of VISA debit card at Scotiabank (Commonwealth of Dominica) on February 2012. Today we have a second part of June 2012. All that time we are pushing an investigation where our money are. The people - some of them we know personally - in Dominica couldn't help us more than just telling us that the bank has a general / technical problems of receiving funds from PayPal. You won't find this information neither on a contract between a customer and Scotiabank, nor on the web page of Scotiabank. Meanwhile, PayPal has debited 1 USD from the account at Scotiabank Dominica for the transation of funds that we still looking for.
As the main office of Scotiabank is in Canada we have used these phone numbers: 1-800-387-6466 (Canada/USA) and (416) 288-1440 (Greater Toronto/outside Canada and USA, call collect) to report the problem and find a help. The people on the phone were so professional on making blank phrases. This song definitely is about them: "Thanks For Your Time" by Gotye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwekc5qgVeA&feature=BFa&list=AL94UKMTqg-9DIwSYtZqoDYjozC9e2PBpS
The lady (in Canada) even without listening of my problem, desperately was looking for telephone number of branch where we have the account. That totally drove me mad. The conversation with Scotiabank people in Canada has even revealed that "Scotiabank Canada has nothing in common with Scotiabank Dominica". How it comes?
It's so frustrating ... I already lost 20 euros on international phone calls to Dominica, Barbados, Canada. And I just looking for 500 USD. Does anyone know how to get through to big boss in Canada (or whatever where) for solving this mess? Thank you. Lauras

SCOTIA BANK STOLE FROM MY FAMILY

I'm sure everyone was once an 18 year old irresponsible kid. Well I was and got a Scotia Bank Student Loan way back in 1997. I have had the same bank account since I was 15 years old... so here comes the kicker... Yesterday, my husband called me at work to inform me that $2500 had been taken out of our joint account. When I called to find out why, it was for a loan payment on my 1997 loan.

Over 10 years ago, I thought I had paid off all my debts, my credit report is clean. I have never received any notice in the mail, and no collection agents have been calling. Yes, I have moved, I always update my banking information when I move... and if they can find their way into my bank account you would think they could find a phone number or get my address. I am completely outraged!!! When I asked why they didn't contact me, they said they couldn't find me and I had changed my name... well of course I have moved out of my parents’ house in the last 15 years, and yes, my name has changed, I got married!!!

I am pulling all my money out of Scotia Bank and advise anyone that is unsure of their current Student Loan debts do the same!!! If anyone has any advice as to if we have a leg to stand on I would appreciate any advice...

i received a mail from you

i received a mail from you that you are saying that you cooperate with someone mr gergo for a money transfer and i want you to confirm that the email was from your bank.
thank you.

Customer Service Sucks

Scotiabank Customer Service sucks. Based on the several people I spoke to, it seems they treat Scotiabank customers like azz wipe, and they have the intelligence of a rodent.

Worst Customer Service EVER!

Just an hour ago, I dropped off my daughter at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Squamish, BC to cash her work cheque and the teller refused to except it pointing out there was a problem with the letter O in her surname and when my daughter assured her she was indeed the person, the teller said "well for all I know, you could have done that" Then she said she would have to hold the cheque or better take it back to the employer (local business) and fix the letter O.

Needless to say my daughter says she is never banking there again after being accused of "fixing a cheque" and did not want to have her mother walk in the back with her as she was 18 and should be able to do her own banking.

I set up this account for her, even opened a new account for myself, went in with her 2 weeks ago and spoke to the teller I knew, introduced her, explained where she works, all was fine that day. They took her cheque no problem. Yet when she is alone, she is treated disrespectfully.

After I dropped off my daughter to work, I went back to the bank (which was completely empty) and stood in front of the three tellers and asked, which teller just accused my daughter of 'fixing a cheque' She did not apologize, only that the payee had to initial the error and then come back. I told them all, "Do you think she will come back after being accused of fraud? Yes there are 18 year olds who are criminals, but you (Bank of Nova Scotia) should be ashamed to treat a person so disrespectfully. Not only will she not go back, me either! TD and Royal here I come. I know they will be more respectful to us. Worst Customer Service EVER. Bet I won't hear from you.

Request for an email address in Lodon UK

It is difficult to find email addresses from the Scotia Bank websites.

Request for email address of Scotia Bank in London, UK

Please send me the email address of The Manager, Scotia Bank, Scotia House, 33 Finsbury Square, London, EC2A 1BB, United Kingdom, as my husband and I would like to open a joint account in London. Thank you for an early reply.

A STAR SERVICE

SCOTIA BANK IS AN ABSOLUTE PLEAURE. IT IS A FANTASTIC CARING ORGANISATION WITH DEDICATED STAFF. COME ON PEOPLE LET'S BE POSITIVE AND LOOK AT THE POSITIVES THEY SURLEY WEIGH OUT THE NEGATIVES.

Not for me today --

Not for me today -- terrible. Won't go back. Rude to my child. I will never stand for rudeness, especially towards my children. I never even got an apology after a teller accused her of fixing a cheque. It was from her employer! I am sorry I picked this bank as her first banking experience... as it was a HORRIBLE one. Lesson learned! TD and Royal all the way!

Scotiabank has the worst

Scotiabank has the worst government student loan service. They lie to you about who you are speaking to and they lie about your account. You can't lodge a complaint about them they will just make up a supervisor name or put youo on hold until you hang up. Somebody needs to regulate these people, they are totally breaking the law and getting away with it.

Swift code of Scotia bank

I need fund transfer from India to canada. Please email me the swift code of Scotia bank.
Thanks

international collect call

WHY have a number set to receive international collect calls when it doesn't even WORK?

i then buy a phone card and call the main line and they tell me no less than four times that i could've called collect, and why didn't i just call collect, and you should call collect because its a 24hr line....
?
because the bloody number was blocked from international collect calls!!!!

this is ridiculous.

Ok I am thinking that we all

Ok I am thinking that we all need to grow up!! You say you have a student loan (OSAP) I find that really hard to believe!!! Is it for a career college? Because I am having a hard time believing that you could have the grades to get in anywhere else! So go FUCK yourself with your mom's dildo!

Your such loosers! Who cares

Your such loosers! Who cares about your student loan or your accounts....bunch of stupid loosers who will end of nothing

If you can't correctly spell

If you can't correctly spell "losers" you shouldn't even be commenting.

Not Impressed

I guess it's each different person's experience, I honestly can say I'm done with Scotia. I've been with them since I was old enough to have an account(my mom is with them and set one up for me when I was little). She's never had a problem. My dad and I have.
I had to go through the same process with the OSAP thing as the person above and I have just recently moved. Scotia has been absolutely terrible to me here. However back in my hometown where I knew everybody they were great.
I've found that city banks tend to have..a tougher exterior. However, I've had so many problems with them now-such as changing my home branch so I can do my business down here.I've been through the process four times now. Nothing.
Their hours are constantly changing and thier staff look like they don't want to be there. The other night, because all thier employees are not on the same page-they actually ended up costing me money.
My roomie is with TD, happy as a cat with cream on it's whiskers and they treat her like a queen everywhere she goes.
I'm going to give Scotia a chance to make it right. But I'm going to switch if they don't soon.

Visa cards

If possible, have photo of customer on VISA card.

Really poor customer service

Really poor customer service at the banks with tellers that seem miserable and are very rude. Not doing business with them again!

I LOOOOOOVE SCOTIABANK. They

I LOOOOOOVE SCOTIABANK. They are absolutely great. People...don't listen to negativity...our Canadian banks are the best in the world...if you're looking for mistakes...try a credit union!!! Where do I start with the credit unions...anyway...something can be 99.999% great and they're will always be goof balls with something loosy to say. I've learned that goofballs have bad credit and hate all banks.

I think you are not being

I think you are not being truthful ... or maybe you work for Scotiabank ...?

NO TO SCOTIA

Please never go to Scotiabank. It is the worst financial institution that I ever encountered. It is manned by totally unprofessional and rude staff. I opened account recently and within a month I got fed-up with their service and moving back to TD Canada Trust. I tried to express my concerns to higher level but only thick headed persons sitting all the levels. They can't serve their customers well. They say any branch banking, but you have to go to the home branch for most of the things. Bye Scotia, you will end soon.

LOL

I've had an account with Scotiabank for the last forty years; I have never gotten anything other than absolutely stellar service and value on numerous bank loans and finally a mortgage, and my Scotiabank Visa card -- which is tied to my ScotiaLine, is at 4.5%.

A few years ago, I lost my bank card in Belize, walked into the Scotiabank office there -- unlike any other bank, they are in cities all over the world -- got treated like royalty and got it replaced in a few minutes.

DO NOT GET LOANS FROM

DO NOT GET LOANS FROM SCOTIA!!!!!!
I am currently in the process of trying to transfer my student loans to another bank.
Scotiabank is unreliable and absolutely condescending.

i was going to open account

i was going to open account at scotia but now after reading this comment i'm scared of even trying scotia as it seems very logical that if bank wants, it can check availability of funds and make them available to their rightful owner to utilize. holding funds while its possible to verify them by contacting other institutions right away is sleazy way of making interest on the funds and not paying to funds rightful owner. too bad scotia bank you lost another great customer at the expense of sleazy practice of using peoples money for short term gains

Don't listen to that idiot

Don't listen to that idiot above...I'm sure the first poster put in the wrong address...he sounds like a bitter loser.

Lousy scotiabank

I am a student waiting for my student loan, my friend who banks with PC filed his papers same day as me and he received his OSAP allready, while scotiabank holds mine to use, without paying me interest. Scotiabank is the worst institution around, and now it is up to me to make things right. The only way I know to make things right, is to make the shareholders pay. From this day on, each time they screw me over it is going to cost them a big window somewhere, until A:) they change their way of doing business, B:) Their insurance rates go higher, or C:) They realize the error of their ways and proved the same service as other financial institutions (this is the least likely path they will follow). SCOTIABANK worst financial institution in the nation.

fraud / screwup by Bank

A young (25) family friend of ours recently had $700 removed from her account and when informing the teller at her local branch about this, the teller basically accused her of lying and told her to go to the Police.
The Bank has not contacted her and a friend phoned on her behalf but gets a different person everytime she phones. Finially a contact person at the Bank with a phone number was established but no progress has been made with this person who refuses to return phone messages.
It has been mentioned that the $700 was withdrawn at an ATM and a $1.50 charge was assessed. Our young friend did not withdraw the money and by the way..................she probably has a withdrawl limit anyway of only $200. One other thing................ a few days after this entry she withdrew $200 at the Bank through the ATM but the next day the Bank put the $200 back into her account. She told them about this and they have done nothing........the $200 which she knows is not hers, in still in her account???????
Question ....................what does a person do to get some action, some intelligent response from the Bank...........this appears to be fraud of some sort but the mystery $200 deposit suggest that maybe the whole thing is just the Bank's computer going haywire. She needs action, action, action and some courteous co-operation. What can we do.

I found this page for the

I found this page for the phone number of the student loan centre to update my student loan address and I just had the worst telephone banking service. thank you scotiabank for ruining my day.

Get a life

Get a life loser! It is spiteful losers like you who make me regret free speech. Scotiabank is a GREAT bank and no institution is perfect and no I do not work for them. I just feel the need to step up and defend the bank where I've been banking for many many many years. Get a life you stupid moron or A) go jump off a cliff and do the rest of us a favour B) swallow poison and die a slow and painful death or C) repeat option A or B.
STOP LOOKING AT THE NEGATIVE IN LIFE AND BE THANKFUL WE HAVE STUDENT LOANS AVAILABLE TO LOSERS LIKE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah you're just too stupid

Yeah you're just too stupid too realize that this great institution has turned you into a cash cow. Dumb stupido

Whose the loser?

My scotiabank government student loan experience has been a nightmare. From beginning to end...I have been sent to collections several times while on interest relief which is terrible considering I have co-operated with them within their ridiculous way of dealing with government student loans. Everytime I speak to them it is torture, and I am ALWAYS treated like I know nothing about the way their protocol works, even though I have been paying off my loan with them for over ten years. Its always something new and terrible to contend with. For some reason I have to go to the bank to pay one of my loans rather than use internet banking which is a pain. I regret ever walking into Scotiabank when my OSAP was granted so many years ago. I also regret that Mr. or Ms. 'Get a Life' has time to belittle others and wish away civil rights. I'm pretty sure he/she should take their own advice regarding negativity. BTW Scotiabank has added a surplus of negativity to my life from the moment I stepped inside their doors. Have fun calling people names, charging them to commit suicide and wishing death upon people, then looking like a hypocrite for calling THEM negative. I'd call this person a loser but I'm very sure it would go without saying.

Hey retard, never regret free

Hey retard, never regret free speech. Also, Scotiabank is a TERRIBLE bank. I agree that no institution is perfect, but what you don't seem to understand is that Scotia doesn't even try to be better.

So, why are you telling people to kill themselves? And YOU'RE the one who regrets free speech? Man, you're the biggest moron of them all.

The bank is withholding OP's funds unnecessarily. This is money that they require access to to pay their tuition, so that they may become more intelligent, and give more back to society than your trailer trash ass will.

STOP BEING NEGATIVE IN LIFE AND BE THANKFUL WE HAVE STUDENTS LIKE HIM/HER. They're the ones who you welfare bums get your financial support from. Idiot.
